Have just invested in a dinky wee MP3 player, which came with the standard mini earphones. Has anyone bought any of the so-called sports earphones? Can anyone recommend earphones that won`t fall out/off while running?
MP3 is the best. I used to run with a lil radio, but was always annoyed that nowt was on I wanted to listen to. So now I can just record my fave cd's or radio shows (off the beeb) and take them with me whenever I want.
Technology eh ?
APB - they do corrode, but mine was after a good year of use. Pretty hostile environment they work in eh ?
I've been looking at these Sennheiser headphones for sport that seem designed for running and active sports. Does anyone have any experience with them? Do they stay in your ear OK?
Alternatively I've been looking at pair of regular in ear headphones. Although I'm a bit worried that they are going to isolate me from external noises too much and I won't hear cars, bikes, etc. I run on the street on the way to the park.
I use the Sennheiser PMX70 Neckband Sport Headphones and they are great, they just do not fall off. I have done long runs in them, sprints in them, and leapy jumpy kung fu kicks in them and they stay put. Also because they are Sennheiser it means they have good sound quality. I got mine for about £18 from Amazon.
The only downside is the back bit can knock against your collar or hood. If you are wearing something with a collar or hood that is. And I am not sure how it would work if you wanted to wear a hat but I don’t so it doesn’t matter to me.
Thanks for the advice! It's good to hear the Sennheiser headphones stay on your head when you're running.
I'm not sure that ear bud style headphones can been that good for sound quality compared with decent pair of ear canal headphones. I've tried a friend's pair of Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 Pro's in ear sound isolating headphones and they sound incredible compared with the cheaper Sennheiser earphones, e.g. CX300, CX500, etc. I guess they do cost at least double that of a pair of CX500's though!
which are out of stock at Amazon - bought mine in the Apple store. They're fab! I have oddly shaped ears (apparently) as in-ear buds just don't stay on, but these don't ever shift when I'm runing, they feel v secure and adjust really well. x
Never come out despite hilly runs, fast runs, slow runs, rain, wearing baseball caps, etc.
Sound quality brilliant and you'll soon spot all the runners wearing them at races. The only negative aspect is the lead. it's too long and I end up tucking it down behind my ipod.
I have some Sennheiser PMX70 Sport headphones but the right one always hurts my ear inside, like maybe it's too big for my ear. So annoying because the left earphone is nice and comfortable.
If they had an award for best running earphone it would go to the Soundwise s6. Hands down or should that be hands free. You can get on amazon. They alow you to try risk free for 14 days. Although I think they should fit everyone and there is no question they sound good. Soundwise also do another earphone called the s1 but it does not look too great.
I've got to add to the all-round enthusiasm for the Sennheiser PMX70.
I should also add that they have another benefit over the in-ear canal ones, which I use when normally on the go. With the Sennheiser's sound is ok (but inevitably you are missing out on some deep bass) - BUT you can actually hear what's going on around you in traffic. Noise cancelling sounds like a bad idea to me if you run in a busy city - and if like me you already run with a unhealthy disregard for life and safety, like jumping traffic-lights where you can. You *want* to hear that white van coming speeding towards you So, thumbs up for the PMX70's decent sound and comfort and inbuild safety feature.
For me, it is important that the headphones stay in at all times, so I've moved away from the in-ear earphones and onto earhook and neckband headphones.
Sennheiser MX 80 are great headphones at £15, the Sennheiser/Adidas colloboration are decent, yet I have issues with the £50 price tag. Not a lot of difference in what they do, so the MX 80 are by far the best to go for for cost. I've ebayed recently and came across Urbanz Hooky's running headphones, which if you type 'running headphones' into eBay, I found them at £6.99. I thought they'd be the tacky sort you get from China, yet they are legit! Fit well, and snug in-ear fit. Great for £7!
I just upgraded to some SoundMAGIC E30's (the replacement for the PL30). Very nice fit, truly incredible sound. Best of all they stay really secure, with with over ear cabling.
the Sennheiser 680 range are specifically designed for sports, the cable is anti tangle and stronger kevlar, they come in various types from buds to round the neck versions, the in ear ones have little rubber fins that tuck into your ear so they never move when running, i like those the best,
i prefer the MX680 over the CX680 because, whilst the CX has the better sound due to its in ear design (the MX sit in the ear like iphone/pod headphones, as opposed to the CX that go into the ear hole with the soft rubber cups) they are too noise canceling, and even down low you cant hear traffic, i generally only put my music on once i'm on the trails but rather than have them bounce around i leave them in whilst i run there on the roads with music paused, you can still hear the traffic well with the MX and PX 680 design
Yep find Yurbuds by far the best. I had all sorts and none really lasted. Furthermore I was not enamoured with the sound quality, nor, after 30-45mns, their fit when I started sweating.
Yurbuds have for me been the ones I have settled on and will replace like for like as and when they will break down.
Now if one could only find these in BT format without the wires I would be even happier.
I purchased one of these sony players, no annoying wire, and surprisingly well fitting and easy to control. When running down a steep hill they can pop out a bit but other than that I'm very happy with it...

I use these - Philips In-Ear Headphones SBCHS310. Brilliant. Even survived a trip in the washing machine. Ooops !
Technology eh ?

They're £25 but well worth it in my opinion.
Cheers, J.
Does anyone have any upto date advice on this?

Apart from that, perfect.
Got mine from amazon too.

I've been looking here: www.iheadphones.co.uk/sport
I was looking at iHeadphones, but after reading some reviews of their service I thought it better not to shop with them. See the following links:

anyone try Yurbuds yet? http://www.headphonehub.co.uk/product-category/brands/yurbuds-brands/
I saw them in a mag the other day, apparently they 'never' fall out.

I'm with James Siggers. soundMAGIC PL30's (now E30's)
Great sound, never come loose.

I use my trusty Sony MDR 150s. They cost me £12, the sound is awesome and they're very comfy (Even if they do give you sweaty ears).
I've never been a fan of the in-ear style of earphones, I've never found them comfortable.
